Greetings and thanks for your interest in the Korean Karate Academy of the Western Michigan Tae Kwon Do association.
We are students of Professor (Grand Master) Monte Beghtol, 10th Dän, President of Western Michigan Tae Kwon Do. This club, Korean Karate Academy, is owned and operated by Master Ray Curry, 5th Dän, who is assisted by several members of the association. What we are about is helping students build character and be the best martial artists they can be.
Our major emphasis is on self defense-what works in the real world- as well as philosophy, eastern or western, that enhances one’s ability to be a better person. We use our training to examine situations that may be dangerous and devise ways to remove ourselves safely. We also train for tournament/sport competition, and explain the difference between the two.
